Pirate, Skull and Crossbones Decor

January 21st, 2014 by admin

Every beach home can use a touch of pirate décor.  And let’s face it — pirates are always ‘in’.  The Skull & Crossbones is an image recognized anywhere, as firmly planted in our culture as the Red Cross or White Flag.  The legacy of pirates isn’t just limited to the coastal regions as there are a number of cities and universities, located far inland, named the Pirates.

Pirates are entrenched in our collective imaginations as these swashbuckling outlaws who defy convention, maneuvering on the outside of ‘decent’ society.  This is something that nearly all of us can relate to on some level.

While we can’t exactly roll through the high seas pillaging and guzzling rum, we can at least suggest we possess that call to adventure with a few home décor pieces featuring the classic Jolly Roger.  Flags are naturally one of the most popular choices to show off your rebellious streak and while they’re wonderful additions for porches or outsides spaces in general, a flag is creative solution as pirate wall décor.

Pirate-themed pillows are another splendid way to pay tribute to lawlessness on the high seas.  A black skull & crossbones would go with just about any couch or a throw as pirate bedroom decor.

For those who are a bit more enthusiastic about pirates there is the pirate glassware set that features the skull & crossbones.

The ultimate in pirate décor is the oak barrel with the skull & crossbones etches on top.  It’s an absolutely perfect addition to any beach home that regularly entertains.  Load that barrel up with some rum (or any concoction) and maybe inspire some adventures of your own….
