Wooden Wall Art

Walk a beach for a little while and you'll find driftwood. This debris seems more beautiful for it's time in the water, polished, bleached, and distressed to the point where it feels ancient. Timeless. For centuries, beach communities around the world used this driftwood to adorn their buildings, shaping the wood into doppelgangers of other natural things that come from the sea. They paint the wooden beach signs vibrant colors, then let the sea air distress them until that wood looks as if it could have grown that way. You walked along that beach around sunset, the sea lapping quietly at the sand, and picked up a piece of driftwood. You saw a seahorse it it, and imagined shaping it and paining it. But you knew you weren't going to carry it home.

Sandpipers Door Mat
Wow...it's BIG! Not the texture I thought, my friend was here, visiting, and she made me take it off the front door entrance, said it was too nice to wipe feet on. Hummmmm....maybe I'll lay it in the laundry room, since the guest bathroom is just a tad too small for it...maybe the back door...I'll definitely keep it!
