It is also unique in nature since each artisan incorporates a certain flair to their work, and every piece is signed on the tag. * Barnegat comes from the word "Varendegat" meaning 'Inlet of the Breakers.' The inlet was given this name in 1614 by Captain Cornelius Jacobsen Mey who happened upon Long Beach Island, NJ.

* Lucy the Elephant, in Margate, NJ, is the largest elephant statue in the world.

* The first passenger airplane flight landed in Atlantic City, NJ on May 3, 1919.
